These past few weeks I have been devouring books on how the mind and emotions work and how to really find your authentic self. I want to share with you a few thoughts from each book during the next few weeks in order to help you discover what I am unlocking.

Ill start with a book that I read last year but it was so impactful that I wanted to read it again.

According to Brene Brown’s book “The Gifts of Imperfection” our gifts are our courage, compassion, and connection.
Courage – rooted from the Latin word Cor – meaning heart – “to speak one’s mind by telling all one’s heart”
Compassion – rooted from pati and cum – “to suffer with”
Connection – rooted from conectere – “to join together”

We are all on a quest for wholeheartedness and only those who are brave enough to explore the darkness will ever discover the infinite power of our light.

Many times we are simply trying to fit in, instead of belonging, which requires us to be who we are without changing our authenticity, which is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we are supposed to be and embracing who we are.

An exercise that you can try today is to think about your answer to the following question:

What’s the most courageous thing you can do for yourself when you feel small and hurt?

For some, it might be speaking out instead of keeping it in. For others, it might be smiling or maybe crying. What is your escape from the pain and then explore the opposite to find your courageous, authentic self.
